Love this, TARA (like Tiara)! I didn’t realize until later in life but the beach has always been my happy place and now I’m always truly “Sandy” living at beach! Grateful for that synchronicity, the spiritual and energetic connection to my name.

Sometimes all it takes is doing five minutes of research, right? That's what I found! So glad you're on a similar journey!

What a wonderful read, thanks for sharing. I too spent along time ashamed of my name. Nzinga was the Warrior Queen of Angola. That used to feel like big shoes to fill. But I’m feeling bigger now.

Fellow Tara here (also pronounced like “Tiara”)! I’ve always loved my name, and I find more people are asking me how to correctly pronounce it, which is a plus. Even though my cultural roots are Indian, I love how the name means so many things to different people. I’ve heard there is a famous Tara hill in Ireland. Hope I can visit someday!

Ahhhhh yes!!!!! Do you know why your parents named you Tara? Does it have a special significance in the culture you come from? And yes - I've heard it's also important in Ireland! Would love to know more about your version of Tara :)

It means “star” in multiple Indian languages ⭐️ so whenever I look up at the stars, I think of, well, I guess, me lol. But yeah they named me that because of the cultural connections but also because they figured most people in the US could pronounce it correctly (that part didn’t turn out to be as true lol). An immigrant’s naming gamble!

"Catherine is a name of Greek origin, derived from the Greek word “katharos,” which means “pure.”/"Katharos" and "cathartic" both originate from the Greek word "katharos" meaning "pure" or "clean."/ In psychology, catharsis is associated with the release of repressed emotions or trauma, bringing them into consciousness and facilitating their processing."/ I didn't know the connection between my name and the word "catharsis" until your post inspired me to look it up. Definitely a fitting name for me!
