But first, a little bit of news…
Rare opportunity alert 🚨 ! Typically when I speak to a corporation or group it’s closed to the public, but this time, The Jewish Federation of Los Angeles and the Jewish Professional Women’s network is inviting you to spend time with me on Thursday, April 24th at 6:30 PM at Above the Block in Los Angeles.
I’m going to explore my “rocket booster theory,” the idea that hustle is like a rocket booster: essential for launch, but not enough to keep you in orbit.
Through vivid storytelling and practical frameworks, you'll discover how to tame negative self-chatter, overcome imposter syndrome, and decide who YOU want to be at work so that you can harness the power of your drive. Stop burning out and start building up by learning how to transform your hustle into lasting momentum. Register now!
And now, onto the newsletter!
Hello my dearest darling friend!
Idk about you but…I’ve been…a little discouraged by the world outside my window. I mean, I don’t have to go into the details, and in fact, I refuse to go into the details because we are only a few sentences into today’s newsletter and I refuse to bum you the f*ck out. And in the darkness that we see all around us, I’ve wondered, “What’s my job? Who does this moment call me to be?”
As I think about it, I think a lot about my name, Tara. I had hated my name for basically my entire life because a) no one can pronounce it (it’s Tara like Tiara 👑 , not Terra like earth), and b) the only reason I have it is that my mom had one 1980s new-age moment (I’m sure while also on a waterbed) and chose it at random.
I hated my name until about 2020 when, peak pandemic, I decided to look up what the eff it actually meant and here is what I found:
Tara means “star” in Sanskrit. And not just any old star—the kind of star that radiates so brightly it can guide the path for all people on their spiritual journeys. Tara is also a goddess in Buddhism, where she is considered the mother of liberation, and is known for her endless compassion and fierce wisdom. She is maternal, loving, nurturing, and her greatest power is to see suffering in the world and help relieve it. Her whole deal is that she sees the pain of others, sits with them, and offers them the compassion and tools to heal themselves…so like…my name is everything I’ve ever aspired to be.
This week, I’m thinking about the quiet magic tucked inside a name. What does yours carry? Are you living up to it - or rewriting it? And what would it feel like to fully claim it as your own?

If you’re a part of my Glow Getters (the paid journaling community for this newsletter) you’ll be getting journaling prompts diving deeper into your name, identity, and who you’re called to be! You can thank me later ;)
Love this, TARA (like Tiara)! I didn’t realize until later in life but the beach has always been my happy place and now I’m always truly “Sandy” living at beach! Grateful for that synchronicity, the spiritual and energetic connection to my name.
Oh gosh yes and! I absolutely hated my name for the first 50 years of my life and then looked up the meaning and ever since wear it like my crown! ❤️
