For me it’s recognizing that doing a 30 min workout is ok when you don’t have 60 min, it’s great even. In the past I would have either miserably shoehorned it into my day or slipped altogether (which also makes me miserable!). Gentle.
Moved last year after 11 years in one house and MAN - moving truly is one of the most challenging and stressful things! Kudos to you for getting through it while focusing on your journal. Speaking of which, is there a pre-order avail for the journal?!
Awww ALICE! That's so sweet. I am sure there is but I've been so bogged down I haven't even gotten to that yet. Lol. I am being a not good author right now :) thanks for having my back and reminding me I should PROBABLY get on that! lol Good to see your name, friend
Thank you for this Tara! I really resonate with the part where you said we tend to ignore the rituals and things that make us feel better/good in the exact moments we need it the most. I definitely experience that! You asked what our wins are this week - I’ve, like you shared too, have been getting better at taking care of myself (this past week in particular!) and allowing myself to rest and nourish myself with yoga/painting/reading (your book!!! So incredible - if only you could see my face when I read it haha the epiphanies never end. Also it got me to write a gratitude list, send the thank you note I’ve been meaning to and I’m barely half way through reading! You’re incredible.) anyways thank you! 💗 Bailey (oh also I sent you an email a week or so ago with a question :))
YAY for taking care of yourself!!!!! And I love that the epiphanies never end! You're doing allllll of the things! Thank you for being here Bailey! My email is a NIGHTMARE so this is the best place to reach me :)
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to keep reading. Oh and totally get it about the email - no problem. It’s a bit more of a vulnerable topic so maybe I’ll Instagram DM it to you but either way not a big deal at all if you can’t get to it! Just happy to be learning from you & in your space 💕
I identify with your "week that was," Tara. Me, The Reader, said "Been there, felt that." Besides, when DOESN'T moving suck?
My first win: I met my writing/publishing deadline for the third issue of my Substack newsletter. My self-censor called, but I kept him on hold the entire time.
WIn #2: I stuck to the diet. Now down 25 pounds.
Over-function: A tiny bat flapped past my third-floor window, then rested upside-down under the shady roof overhang. I tried twice to get a picture with my phone, but the sun defied me. I accepted defeat gracefully, and marveled at this tiny wonder. He ate a gnat that flew past. He's upside down. That would be like us standing on our heads to have a snack!
My win was also moving! This was my third move since mid 2023. I am very tired of it. But I think I’ve found an apartment to call home for longer than a year. It faces east along Indy’s downtown canal, it’s bright with soft morning sunshine, and has a balcony to enjoy the views. I am still hunting for a couch, but it will come, one thing at a time. Hoping you landed well too!
