The van I live in got stolen several months ago and I just got it back. I had already processed losing all my clothes (yes including underwear), journals, expensive diving & backpacking equipment, stuff for my small business, but getting it back really put me back in the spiral. It’s really exactly what you said, the loss of things is one thing, but seeing their muddy foot prints all over and the fact that they treated my most sentimental knick knacks like trash and stole them for no reason just hurt more than anything. So so violated, and really questioning humanity whereas I’m normally the person that sees the best in people. Trying to rebuild but also feeling very defeated. Anyways all that to rant to someone who knows how it feels. Thanks for writing Tara 🙏

My reply might double post but.... The muddy foot prints! UGH! That guts me. I know exactly how you feel. I'm so sorry you went through this and thrilled you shared your story. You make me (and I bet) a lot of other people feel less alone. Thank you for being here.

That #3 can hit you sooo hard! How can we hold this as human beings? It helps me to take a breath and tell myself, "I can't control what happens. But I can always have my own back."

Yeah, how do we let go? So much easier said than done.

I’m sorry this is happening, especially all at once! I had a string of unfortunate occurrences a few years ago and said out loud, “did I break a mirror or offend a witch?”

Can I ask what a “baby eviction” is? I’m pretty sure no eviction is a good thing but I’ve never heard that term and google is just giving me cute ideas for overdue pregnancies.

Bahahahahah - it’s such a long BORING story. But basically, it was the first step to eviction - 3 day notice. It’s pretty insane how it all came about but the building has since apologized! It was just unpleasant!

I am so sorry all of that happened to you. I don’t believe in bad luck either. Life is bizarre and sometimes things just happen that stretch our capacity.

I’m glad you’re feeling better and I am so so glad you are SAFE! Those robberies could have gone another way.

TOTALLY! That's part of my good luck - they didn't go even further south!

And for the emails I'm getting - YES! The thing stolen from my front door is a bag from Rent the Runway!

Thank you for the reminder to “don’t try to figure this out”. Figuring things out is what I do. Superpower! But it’s true that sometimes things just happen and it can be harmful to think too deeply on it. Glad you are safe. Some things in life really suck ❤️

Thank you, and thanks for seeing - yeah, sometimes things just suck. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything!
